The Cagayan de Oro River: A Popular White Water Rafting Destination

The Cagayan de Oro river is the best white water rafting destination. Its cool rushing waters will relax and energize you all at the same time. Waters splashing and slamming against boulders will remind you of nature’s powerful effect on life. The minute your raft gets into the water, you’ll feel pumped up; adrenaline running throughout your body.

Tagged by the Department of Tourism as Cagayan de Oro’s main tourist attraction, the Cagayan de Oro River was originally called Kalambaguasasahan River. Its name was changed to Cagayan River when the Spaniards came to the city. The word Ag in Cagayan means water, while Kagay means river.

The Cagayan de Oro River has its headwaters in the central part of Bukidnon, with the waters traversing northward to CDO, all the way to the Macajalar Bay. Elevated at 7,500 feet, it is one of the city’s most treasured resources.
